Welcome to Blogging

Well, it's been a good, long while since I've blogged anything  (LiveJournal, anyone?) and I realized that I wanted to start keeping track of some of what is going on in life.  I have trouble remembering what I ate for dinner yesterday, which is why I want to start writing things down.

This weekend was a blur. I spent most of Saturday and Sunday working on my final paper for Organizational Management and Behavior.  I haven't written a research paper in about 6 years and so it's been a bit overwhelming, to say the least.  The final product is due next Sunday and it should be 10-15 pages.  I made it to about page 6 by Sunday night, so I think I'm on a good track, but will need to work on it during the evening's this week, since we're going to Vegas on Friday.

Saturday evening we also went to Hasmik's memorial, which was held down in Denver in the clubhouse of a condo building.  There were a ton of people there- no surprise.  She wanted to have a celebration with beautiful flowers, elegant finger foods and good conversation. It was tough to be there, but I think it's exactly what she would have wanted.  It was hard realizing that we knew only a fraction of her life- she was loved by so many people.  Someone said it best when they said that so many people wanted to be with her that she was able to manage it all and also save time for herself and family.  I hadn't seen her in over a year.  I will miss her enthusiasm, her support, her zeal for travel and good food and her humor.  One day, when I make it into the foreign service, she'll be one to whom I'll owe a lot of thanks!

After the memorial we went to Passover dinner at Aunt Sue's house.  We arrived mid-way through the Seder, but were able to join in.  I took a huge bite out of the gefiltefish thinking that it was a matzo ball-  I was sorely mistaken. It was good to see everyone.  We made it home quite late, around 11, and were exhausted from the day.

Sunday I worked on my paper and went for a run- about 3.5 miles.  It's good to get back into running, since I haven't done it in about two months. I am feeling like I'm building up my endurance but I still have a way to go!  It was a beautiful day, sunny and 75.  Perhaps winter is gone for good? We went down to Rioja for dinner with John, Stacey, Spencer and Talia.  It was quite delicious.  Tony and I split an avocado salad, and some pork belly for appetizers. The pork belly melted in your mouth- it was on a bed of some garbanzo bean and cardamom puree, which was quite tasty. For dinner I had an English pea ravioli with rabbit sausage (hopefully not the Easter Bunny!) and morel mushrooms.  So good!
